The Scottish Government is pleased to be supporting this year’s Scottish Smallholder Festival.
We estimate that there are 20 000 smallholdings in Scotland, covering 110 000 ha (around 2% of all the agricultural land) – that’s nearly one-third of all the holdings in Scotland. In using that land productively, Scottish smallholders produce 29,000 cattle, 222,000 sheep, 28,000 pigs, 4 million poultry; 10 000 ha of crops and 13 070 bee colonies.
The Scottish Government will be looking to learn more about your smallholding business and how you actively contribute to growing our dynamic and prosperous rural economy.
