Thank you for accepting our invitation to be part of our Speaker Programme.
The three Speaker Programme venues are on the upper floor of the foyer of the Highland Hall, Royal Highland Centre. Each session lasts one hour; 45 minutes for your presentation and Q&A, then 15 minutes turnaround of speakers and audiences.
There will be a volunteer Festival Steward at the venue – please introduce yourself to them, so that they know you have arrived. They will be wearing purple hi-viz gilet and a yellow Steward badge. They will assist with audience management, introduce you and act as timekeeper.
Equipment and presentations
Each venue has a laptop and projector.
If you want to make a PowerPoint presentation, we will need it from you not later than one week before the event i.e. 12th October, to allow us to upload it and test it.
We would encourage you to conclude your presentation by informing those attending where they may speak with you later, if they have further questions. If you are not part of an organisation that has a stand at the Festival and if you don’t have a stand yourself, there is “Speakers’ Corner” next to the Speaker Programme rooms, where you are most welcome to spend some time meeting members of the audience.
Once your speaking slot is over, you’re free to enjoy the rest of the Festival at your leisure and we hope you’ll find it interesting, informative, and enjoyable.
Expenses
Expenses are only available to individuals who are self-funding. We hope that individuals who are representing commercial entities or other charities will be able to meet their own expenses, recognising that Smallholding Scotland is a charity, and that the Festival is run on a “not for profit” basis.
We will help with accommodation costs up to £75.
If you are travelling a distance and would like us to reserve a room on your behalf at a local airport hotel for the night of Friday 18th October, please let me know by Sunday 13th August and we will try and help. If we have not heard from you by then, we will assume you either don’t require accommodation or have found your own.
We will assist with travelling expenses up to £100. We encourage the use of public transport but will reimburse private vehicle mileage at 40p per mile.
Parking at the venue costs £10 payable directly to the car park operators. This charge can be reclaimed in your expenses.
Travel, accommodation and venue car parking expenses can be claimed after the Festival.
You will receive a £20 food voucher, which can be used at the Festival food outlets. You should collect this, with your expenses claim form, from the Smallholding Scotland office in the Foyer on the day of the Festival.
Final details
The programme is nearly complete, so we will give you final details of venue and the time of your talk nearer to the Festival.
We hope this covers everything, but if you’ve any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch by email info@festival.scot
