For many smallholders, livestock are an important part of life. And at the Festival, we think they are too.
In our event programme, we have talks and demonstrations aimed at supporting aspiring, new and experienced livestock keepers.
Sheep
Classes for all breeds of sheep, horns, wool on the hoof, and young handlers. Featuring the RBST Scotland National Championship Qualifier, and the RBST Young Shepherd of the Year qualifier.

Includes

Goats
Classes for adults, goatlings and kids of all breeds of goat, and young handlers. Featuring the RBST Scotland National Championship Qualifier.

Pigs
Classes for boars, gilts, sows, veterans and pairs of all breeds of pig, and special classes for butchers pigs, and young handlers. Featuring the RBST Scotland National Championship Qualifier.

Poultry & waterfowl
Due to the ongoing situation with Avian Influenza (Bird Flu), we are unable to hold a Poultry & Waterfowl Show in 2024. However, we have classes for eggs in the Rural Skills Competition, including egg content classes.
Alpacas, cattle and equine showcases
We work with the Scottish Alpaca Group to hold an alpaca showcase and with individual breeders and breed societies to do the same for cattle and equines, with a focus of British native breeds.
