The Blacknose sheep originates from the Valais canton of Switzerland. Native to the Upper Valais region, the Blacknose graze in the Alps in the summer months June-September. Though housed through the winter, the Blacknose is a sturdy breed which is well adapted to the harsh conditions of the mountains, which can be endured even in the summer months. Providing ‘local’ opportunities for education through training days, Agricultural Show support, breed promotion, social events, friendship and fun for VBN owners, breeders and enthusiasts.

I am a shearer specialising in small flocks and rare breed sheep from local smallholders. These fleeces are the raw materials for my wet felted rugs and pet beds. The rugs look like traditional sheepskins but are 100% wool, made by hand using soap and water.
Uan Wool Find us @uanwool on facebook,  instagram  &  www.uanwool.co.uk Uan Wool is a family run artisan business based on a working hill farm in Glenisla.  We were trying to help our asthmatic son sleep- he had just started school & was exhausted. When we saw the life changing improvement to his sleep with wool bedding we realised we could help everyone sleep with wool  – just like a wee lamb.  Superior support and temperature regulation.  We make a range of pillows from our homegrown wool and have a wide range of wool gift items  too. From pillows to ponchos, throws, cushions and wool art too.
