Participants will be able to make 2 corn dollies and learn some of the traditional techniques. They will also learn about the materials we use and the traditions associated with the Corn Dolly.
During the session Elaine will explain about the different heritage straw types she uses, how to prepare the materials and the other equipment you need.
Elaine Lindsay
This year Elaine is celebrating 40 years of straw working. She is from Inverurie in the heart of Aberdeenshire and has always been a country quine! As well as 40 years of plaiting straw, selling her work, demonstrating and giving talks, Elaine has taken great pleasure in teaching others this traditional craft.
Over the years she has had some great commissions from fashion houses as well as television, theatre and film work. Elaine has written two straw working books and is working on more. She has had the privilege to travel through my work and has taught in Europe and the US as well as all over the UK.
