Max and husband Bryan and their two horses moved from central England to their smallholding in the Borders in 2017, 6 weeks after attending a one day Equiculture seminar with Jane and Stuart Myers.
Having spent a small fortune on livery fees for the previous 16 years they had been looking for a change of lifestyle, to have the horses at home and to transform the way the horses were kept.
The aim was to be able to never have them stabled again, to give the horses much more freedom of choice, while restoring the somewhat neglected land and infrastructure they were about to purchase.
That talk came at just the right time and Max and Bryan were able to immediately apply the principles. A few visits from Jane and Stuart and and 7 years later they now have the horses living a happy horse life, although if the horses could change anything they would like to have fewer clegs and midges!
Max will be explaining the principles of Equiculture – which is described as “ethical sustainable horse keeping” and talking about how they applied those principles to their land and to the way they now keep the horses.
Maxine Easey, Equiculture
Max is a retired business systems professional, describing herself as a solutionist. She spent her career helping businesses identify their needs and challenges and working with them to find practical affordable solutions.
She had a second “career” from 2001 when she began to learn about horse behaviour and training and established herself eventually as an equine behaviour consultant and trainer under the banner “Horse Charming”. It became apparent to Max that the way horses are kept and the way in which humans interact with them are big factors that hugely influence their physical and emotional health and consequently their behaviour.
