Struggling with weeds or poor grass growth? Come along to our session on the basics of soil heath and fertility. We’ll be discussing Nitrogen, Phosphate & Potash (NPK), Why and when do plants need them? What do N, P, K, S, Mg, and pH, and TSP, and organic, mean? What nutrients are in your soil? How does soil acidity affect plant growth? How can you adjust soil pH practically?

I am an agricultural consultant, based in Inverness. The office services a range of crofting, smallholder and farming clients in the Black Isle, Nairnshire, Inverness-shire and Ross Shire with a broad range of consultancy services.
I graduated from Glasgow University with a degree Parasitology, before completing a PDGE in Primary Education, where I worked as a teacher for 5 years prior to joining SAC Consulting.
I live on the family upland beef and sheep farm, north-west of Inverness, where we run a herd of 70 autumn calving Saler, Shorthorn and Angus cross cattle alongside a flock of 200 cheviot and cheviot mule ewes. We have a small pedigree Shorthorn herd too.
