12:30pm
Room 1, Foyer upper floor
Gary & Michelle Bruce run Aberdeenshire Sheepdogs which offers a unique opportunity to experience sheepdogs at work: you meet the dogs and have the opportunity to see them at work, gaining firsthand experience of what it’s like to work with these intelligent and highly skilled animals. They expect around 500 people to pass through the farm gate this year alone.
They are passionate about their sheep and committed to their welfare, and believe that by sharing knowledge and experience, they can help others to appreciate these amazing animals and the role they play in our lives.
During this particular session Gary and Michelle will talk about their day jobs, life on a sheep farm with 8 working collies and running Aberdeenshire Sheepdogs.
Gary & Michelle Bruce
Gary & Michelle both work off the farm full time, Gary as a Product Manager for Feeds & Supplements for ACT Scotland and Michelle as a self-employed Agricultural Consultant. They welcomed a wee girl, Rosie, on the 15th of May so she’s been helping with the sheep and dogs.
They run 650 breeding ewes, mostly Lleyn X put to a Lleyn for breeding replacement ewe lambs, Texel/Suffolk/Logie/Dutch Spotted for finishing lambs. They have 8 working collies between them, ranging from 9 months to 12 years old!
