Sheep Show and Showcase
Sheep are a very popular choice for smallholders, and for good reason. With ready markets for quality lamb, hogget and mutton, raw and processed fleece, spun yarn and breeding stock, they offer a potential income as well as being very enjoyable to keep. And with 56 British breeds and a swathe of imports, there’s something to suit everyone.
In 2022, nineteen sheep breeds were represented at the Festival, either in showing classes or in the showcase. For 2023, the Festival aims to better that. While we will be approaching breed societies, we are more than happy to work with individual breed enthusiasts to bring livestock to the Festival.
If you are a passionate breeder of sheep and would like to be part of our Sheep Showcase, please contact info@festival.scot
We also have a popular and friendly sheep show focussing on our native breeds – with a range of classes for 2023 born lambs, plus wool on the hoof, best horns and Young Handler classes. More details here
