The world of poultry is varied, fascinating and rewarding with its gifts of eggs and meat. It’s not just chickens. It includes ducks, turkeys, quails, guinea fowl, geese, pheasants, pigeons and ostriches.

Many smallholders and backyard farmers start their livestock interest with poultry. And, it’s good to share in the knowledge of others.

My own interest and that of the family, stretches over sixty years. From keeping just a few layers, to a flock of six thousand commercial layers and a free range egg business; growing and preparing table poultry and keeping and showing some of the rarer breeds.
