Starting with goats
Room 3: 11:30am
You’d like to keep goats but you’ve been put off by tales of wrecked fences and knickers being eaten off the washing line!
At The Lint Mill (a 13-acre certified organic smallholding in the Southern Uplands) goats were the last species to join our farm. Had we known what keeping them was really like, they would probably have been the first animals we owned.
This talk is about starting with goats, from how to choose a breed to ensuring they have all they need to thrive.
We will talk with specific reference our Bagot goat herd (a rare breed used primarily for conservation grazing) and our Golden Guernsey goats who we keep for our own dairy consumption.
