Smallholding Scotland is the only charity in Scotland dedicated to the smaller producer. It has two main aims:
- To advance the education of the general public in relation to smallholding and its public benefit.
- To advance the education of existing and prospective smallholders
We believe that the best method we can use is the annual Scottish Smallholding Festival as well as supporting some initiatives that have similar goals; for example, the Charity sponsors the “Small Farm of the Year” category in the RBST Scotland Sustainable Food & Farming Awards.
The move of the Festival to the Royal Highland Centre not only presents us with an opportunity to improve our offering to our visitors, it also offers us an opportunity to reinvigorate our charity membership. We intend putting in place a ‘members room’ which will be exclusive to members and where you will be able to have a seat with free tea, coffee and snacks. We will invite speakers to drop into the members room if they want a break as well which will hopefully lead to opportunities for further dialogue.
Members will also get two entry tickets to the Festival itself and a unique wristband that will then give you access to the members room.
When you receive your receipt, it will have a barcode on it – this is required for entry to the Festival and will be scanned twice so it needs to be clearly part of your membership ticket, either on your phone or on paper.
On arrival at the Festival please go to the Smallholding Scotland Office to receive your wristband.
